The initial one-day training seminar will cover key areas of faith and the application of those areas to outreach and service. Missional Workers will study and discuss:
- Why Jesus? – Defending and clarifying faith in Jesus
- Who is God? – Understanding God and sharing your faith (based on the Apostles' Creed)
- What does it mean to be a Christian? – Dealing with temptation and issues of integrity as you serve; living a life of obedience to Christ (based on the Ten Commandments)
- How does God reach into your life? – Understanding and communicating the Word of God (Law and Gospel, listening, leading, caring, and reaching); Understanding your mission and the Means of Grace (Word and Sacraments)
- How can you be in touch with God? – Your prayer life and helping others to pray (based on the Lord's Prayer)
- How is God leading you to serve? – Developing your ministry plan and multiplying ministry servants
Each Missional Worker will be connected with a local pastor for mentoring, advice, and accountability.
The training cost for 2010 of $1200 per student will be funded by the Texas District except for a nominal registration and material fee. Students may register for Missional Worker Training on the registration page of this website. A background check is required. Click here to download the Background Check Authorization Form. These forms will be collected at the initial training session.
